Hi friends,
The last time I sent out a newsletter, I was riding a wave of excitement following part one of the latest season of Bridgerton. Welp, in case you haven’t heard, it was a disappointment. I shifted my “thing to distract me from wedding-planning stress/general state of the world stress” energy to the Karen Read trial in Massachusetts. It is so wild that it's hard to pull away once you begin to go down the rabbit hole of the sketchy investigation. Plus, earlier this week, the trial ended in a hung jury so the case is on hold. Learn from my mistakes: I can’t recommend going this route if you’re searching for something that will restore your faith in humanity.
So what do I become obsessed with now? Leave a comment or respond and tell me what you’re obsessing over lately.
However, here are some things I’ve enjoyed recently.
🫣 Last week we released a never-before-heard episode of Wanna Hear Something Weird? that we recorded very early on. It’s about Gef, a talking mongoose, that torments a family in their home. Yes, you read that right: a talking mongoose. It’s a fun one.
👑 If a Tudor-era comedy/drama/romance with a splash of magic sounds intriguing, I started watching the new series My Lady Jane and recommend checking it out. The story is (very) loosely based on the real Lady Jane Grey (but in a The Princess Bride way). I felt such disappointment after Bridgerton and this show has been a welcome balm to scratch the historical fiction escapism itch. It’s like Ella Enchanted for adults.
🎧 I’ve talked about the Handsome podcast before but I’ll say it again because it’s become perfect listening material in the car when we’re driving long distances to do wedding stuff. A recent episode welcomes Fortune’s mom and it’s heartfelt and funny as always:
🎵 I’ve been listening to a lot of pop music (mentioned in my last newsletter) and it’s become nearly impossible to escape Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan (not complaining) so this cover that Sabrina did is a fun merging of the two:

Thanks for reading, have a great week!

A good obsession and distraction, now hear me out before you dismiss it, is formula 1. Me and my wife are addicted over the last few years, not just because of the sport, but because of the drama and the behind the scenes stories that go on. She never thought she would get into a motorsport, but now is fully invested. The drama is a break from world politics and nonsense, and is just fun, interesting and intense. Watch the most recent season of drive to survive on Netflix, that will get you into the storylines. Then follow this seasons races and all the podcasts that go with it!
I think this might be the answer. I’ve been hearing more and more about F1, I think it might surprise me!
